
G-Braves Outlast PawSox in 15

Gwinnett Stripers News Release
The Gwinnett Braves defeated the Pawtucket Red Sox in 15 innings by a score of 4-2 on Thursday afternoon at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, RI. RHP Julio Teheran was outstanding, pitching 7.2 IP and matched his season high strikeout mark with 7 K's. With the win, the Gwinnett Braves (19-14) remain in second place in the International League South division.
It Was Over When: In the top of the 15th inning, almost 5 hours into the game, OF Stefan Gartrell hit a 2-run HR to put the G-Braves on top by a score of 4-2.
Braves Beat:
On the Mound: RHP Julio Teheran started the game for the G-Braves and was electric, but ultimately did not factor into the decision. He finished the day throwing 7.2 IP allowing 3 H, 2 R/ER, 4 BB and 7 K's. He threw 120 pitches, 77 for strikes. RHP Anthony Varvaro relieved the Braves organizational top prospect, and threw 2.1 IP allowing 2 H, 1 BB and 4 K's. RHP Juan Abreu was next on the cue for the Braves. Abreu threw 2.0 IP with a 1 BB and a K. RHP Jairo Asecnio (1-1) followed Abreu and earned his first win of the year, pitching 2.0 scoreless innings allowing 4 H with a BB. RHP Scott Proctor recorded his third save of the year tossing a perfect inning with a K.
At the plate: LF Wilkin Ramirez provided the early offense for the G-Braves. Ramirez hit a solo HR, his 6th of the year, in the 5th inning off of starter LHP Andrew Miller. He finished the marathon game going 1-for-5 with an RBI and 2 BB. 2B Matt Young was the only G-Brave to have a multi-hit game, going 2-for-5 with 2 BB.
The Opposition:
On the Mound: Miller started the game for the PawSox, but like Teheran, he was not a factor in the decision. Miller threw 5.0 IP allowing 1 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 BB and 6 K's. A total of six pitchers were used for the PawSox during the game. RHP Scott Atchinson earned his first blown save of the season relieving Miller. He threw 2.0 IP allowing a H and 3 K's. RHP Blake Maxwell (1-1) earned the loss for the Red Sox tossing 2.0 IP allowing 2 H, 2 R/ER, a K and a HR.
At the Plate: LF Daniel Nava went 3-for-7 on the day, including an RBI and was caught stealing. DH Josh Reddick finished the day going 2-for-6 with a BB and a 2B.
On Deck: The Gwinnett Braves return home for the start of a 4-game series against the Toledo Mud Hens. The G-Braves will send out RHP Todd Redmond (1-3, 3.21) vs. LHP Duane Below (3-1, 2.97) for the Mud Hens. The game can be heard on the home of the G-Braves, WDUN 550 AM/102.9 FM.
Etc: Friday night means fireworks at Coolray Field. Fireworks will be displayed over the right field wall after the conclusion of the game. In addition, AT&T Real Yellow Pages will present a water bottle Giveaway to the first 1,000 fans. The G-Braves will also be celebrating Friday, the 13th with special activities, altered headshots and videos displayed on the video board.
