DURHAM, NC - The Durham Bulls rallied again Thursday night and brought the tying run to the on deck circle, but fell short in a 9-6 loss to Indianapolis at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The loss means the Bulls split the series at home against the Indians series, but win the season series 5-3.

After Indianapolis scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning to make it a 9-0 game, the Bulls began to rally in the bottom of the inning. The Indians went to the bullpen calling on Justin Thomas, who surrendered a one-out double to Desmond Jennings. Jennings moved to third on a wild passed ball, before being driven home by a Justin Ruggiano RBI double. The double was the 117 for Ruggiano in his Bulls career, tying Chris Richard for the team's all-time Triple-A record.

After Omar Luna lined out Ruggiano scored on a passed ball cutting the lead to 9-2. Third basemen Felipe Lopez then hit his first double of the season and scored on a single by designated hitter Chris Carter. Blaine Boyer then came on for the Indians and was able to strike out Russ Canzler to end the inning.

Robinson Chirinos got things going in the Bulls half of the ninth inning with a one-out single, and Ray Olmedo followed by hitting his fourth double of the season putting runners on second and third with one-out. Jennings then belted his fourth home run of the season over the Blue Monster in left-field to cut the deficit to 9-6. The Indians again went to the bullpen after Boyer walked Ruggiano and Tim Wood was able to retire Leslie Anderson and Lopez in order to pick up his sixth save of the season.

Justin Wilson (3-3) picked up the win for the Indians taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning before JJ Furmaniak broke it up with a single to center field. Wilson allowed only one hit and walked five and struck out three over seven innings. Alex Torres took the loss for the Bulls going 5.1 innings and allowing seven hits and five walks, while striking out four.

Durham will begin a four game series at Alliance Bank Stadium in Syracues at 7:00 p.m. on Friday May 13 when they will send Brian Baker (1-2 4.70) to the mound against Ross Detwiler (2-2 4.64). The game can be heard on 620 the Buzz, and tickets are available at www.durhambulls.com .
