Full Barn Sees T-Birds Battle But Fall to Silvertips
December 9, 2018 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Seattle Thunderbirds News Release
KENT - A season high 6,216 fans at accesso ShoWare Center Saturday night saw the Seattle Thunderbirds battle the Everett Silvertips in a tightly played game won by the Silvertips 2-1.
The season high attendance was just eight fans short of tying the record for the most fans ever to see a T-Birds game at accesso ShoWare Center. The record of 6,224 fans was set in Game 5 of the WHL Championship against the Regina Pats on May 17, 2017.
The T-Birds next game is Tuesday against the Prince George Cougars at 7:05pm at accesso ShoWare Center. The game is a 2-for-Tuesday game with two-for-one tickets and beers and $2 popcorn, soda and hot dogs.
Everett (24-7-1-0) went in front 1-0 at 16:25 of the first period. Sean Richard poked the puck in after a long scramble in the T-Birds crease. Seattle goalie Liam Hughes and head coach Matt O'Dette protested, to no avail, that Hughes was interfered with in the crease.
The Silvertips outshot the T-Birds 13-10 in the first period.
Seattle (10-14-3-0) tied the game 1-1 at 3:59 of the second period. Samuel Huo won a faceoff in the right circle to Nolan Volcan on the boards. Volcan skated the puck up the wall and then around the top of the circle. Volcan took a hard wrist shot with traffic in front of Everett goalie Dustin Wolf and beat the goalie over the blocker.
The T-Birds outshot the Silvertips 18-14 in the second period and led 28-27 in shots after two periods.
Max Patterson scored the winning goal for the Silvertips at 7:46 of the third period on a breakaway. The play came right after the T-Birds couldn't convert on a three-on-one break.
Seattle outshot Everett 16-11 in the third period and 44-38 in the game.
Seattle goalie Liam Hughes had 36 saves on 38 shots.
Wolf had 43 saves on 44 shots.
Single game tickets are on sale online on the T-Birds website and at the accesso ShoWare Center box office.
The T-Birds are now taking orders for Flex-24 Ticket packages. Fans that purchase the 24-Flex Ticket Package will be able to select any available premium seat for any game, in any ticket combination, during the 2018-19 season.
