Americans Earn 8-7 OT Victory over Hurricanes in Fred Meyer Teddy Bear Toss Game

The Tri-City Americans win tonight in the annual Fred Meyer Teddy Bear Toss over the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Things stayed closed the whole night. The Hurricanes, Jake Elmer and Dylan Cozens, both scored in the first period.

Americans trailed by two until Kyle Olson, scored a power play goal in the second at 1:39 followed by 4168 teddy bears that flooded the rink right after, a new Toyota Center record.

Hurricanes stayed close behind. Jordy Bellerive scored their third goal at 9:03.

The Americans landed four more goals in the second. Two of those goals came from Nolan Yaremko. The first was at 5:39 and the second was at 7:58. Kyle Olson and Krystof Hrabik assisted Aaron Hyman with the second power play goal of the night and fourth goal for the team at 16:22. Riley Sawchuk hit the fifth goal 20 seconds right after at 16:22.

AMS were up by 2 going into the third.

Hurricanes, Jake Leschyshyn, scored a power play goal in the third at 6:20.

Americans, Sasha Mutala and Parker AuCoin, both scored in the third keeping the team ahead 7-4.

The Hurricanes tied things up last minuet by scoring 3 goals. Jake Elmer landed two and Taylor Ross landed one taking the boys into overtime.

Americans, Isaac Johnson, scored the game winning goal 1:10 into over time.

The Hurricanes outshot the Americans 44-41.

Final score AMS 8 - LET 7.

The Americans will take one the Portland Winterhawks at the Toyota Center next Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
