Kingston Frontenacs News Release
The Kingston Frontenacs selected Czech forward Radek Smolenak (Smo-LEN-ak) with their twenty-sixth pick overall in the first round of today's CHL Import Draft. Smolenak is a 6'2, 185 pound left centre who is eligible for the 2005 NHL Entry Draft in Ottawa next year.
"Smolenak is a player that every NHL hockey club will be focusing on for the next season's NHL Entry Draft. This is an outstanding pick-up for the Kingston Frontenac Hockey Club," said Wayne Smith, Scout for the Columbus Blue Jackets and who is a consultant for the Frontenacs on European and prospective OHL players.
With his late birthdate, Smolenak was not eligible not for this past NHL Entry Draft. He will join the Frontenacs this upcoming season from his Czech team Kladno Jrs.
