Texas Legends News Release
FRISCO (March 31, 2010) - And then there were three... NBA D-League Frisco cut its team name suggestions from thousands to three at the True Blue Crew Party at Starpower in Addison on Wednesday night.
D-League Frisco team owners Donnie Nelson and Evan Wyly announced the three finalists in the NBA D-League Frisco Team Name Contest during halftime of the game.
Texas Legends, Texas Shooters, and Texas Stallions emerged as the final three after fans submitted their favorite suggestions over the past five months.
Suggestions poured in from the Metroplex, all corners of the United States, and even as far away as Europe, China, and Australia.
"The people have spoken and we're down to the Texas top three", Nelson said. "The interest and response from our fans has truly been overwhelming! Your input is vital as we hit the home stretch so please keep those great ideas coming!"
Frisco co-owner Evan Wyly, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Green Mountain Energy Company, said he was thrilled at the excitement about the Contest.
"Thanks to all the fans for your creative ideas," Wyly commented. "We're excited about the top three names, and we'd like you to go to our web site, www.NBAdleagueFRISCO.com, to recommend your favorite!"
