Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, WI - Phillip Ervin hit a walk-off home run in game one of the doubleheader before Andy Hunter stuck out eight in game two. The 'Frogs won game one 5-4 and game two 7-0. Green Bay used clutch hitting to earn the victories as they scored eleven two-out runs during the twin bill, seven of which Phillip Ervin drove in.
In game one the 'Frogs fell behind on a two-run fourth inning home run from Joshua Cyr. They would respond right away in the bottom of the fourth with three runs of their own. Rapid starter Augey Bill retired the first eleven Bullfrogs in the game before a two-out walk to Jacob May broke up the perfect game. Paul Hoenecke followed that up with a single before Andy Hunter drove in May with a two-out single. Phillip Ervin stepped up and hit a three-run home run to give Green Bay a 4-2 lead.
The 'Frogs went into the bottom of the seventh tied after the Rafters scored a pair in the sixth thanks to back to back doubles against Cameron Dullnig. Ervin led the seventh inning off and hit a solo home run to give Green Bay the walk-off win, their third of the year.
In game two Ervin picked up right where he left off by driving in three runs with a first inning double. That proved to be all that Andy Hunter needed. Hunter put together his third great start for Green Bay by tossing a six-inning, three-hit shutout while striking out eight. The 'Frogs continued to tack on the runs throughout the night cap. Ty Filliben picked up a two-out RBI, as did May and Billy Moon. Steven Halcomb capped the scoring in the fifth with an RBI single of his own.
The win puts Green Bay back at .500 after two weeks of play in the second half. They will continue the four game series against the Rafters on Saturday at 7:05 pm.
