Madison Mallards News Release

MADISON, WI - July 22, 2011. The Madison Mallards have returned to the "Duck Pond" following a two-game series in Waterloo and will take on the Eau Claire Express in a three-game series beginning Friday at 7:05 p.m. The game will be the first at home for the Mallards since July 14 when the team knocked off Waterloo 4-1. It will also be the first time the Mallards and the Express face each other since the Express prevented the Mallards from winning a first-half championship earlier this month.

Both teams enter Friday's contest in a slump. Eau Claire has started 3-10 after a 20-13 first half, and the Mallards are 4-8 after a 21-14 first half.

Eau Claire boasts one of the top pitching units in the league, whereas the Mallards counter with the second ranked offense.

Estevan Uriegas (Texas A&M) will take the mound for the Mallards in his first appearance since the July 14 victory over the Bucks. Uriegas is 1-1 this season with a 1.93 ERA in five appearances. He has faced Eau Claire once thus far, pitching two perfect innings with four strikeouts in relief on July 6.

Eau Claire will counter with Brad Goldberg (Ohio State). Goldberg is 1-0 this season in five appearances, including four starts. His lone win came July 2 against Wisconsin Rapids when he pitched a season-high 6.1 innings in the team's 7-3 win over the Rafters. Goldberg has not faced the Ducks this season, and Eau Claire is 4-1 when he pitches in a game.

Friday is not just the Mallards' first home game since the All-Star break, but it will also be "Leave it to Beaver" night featuring Ken Osmond. Osmond played the role of Eddie Haskell in the classic television series. His appearance is sponsored by the Payroll Company.

It will also be Denny's night and St. Mary's Sun Prairie Emergency Center Community Night. Receive 2-for-1 field box tickets with proof of residency in Cottage Grove & Deerfield (day of game--in- person only).

The Mallards and Express will face each other Saturday and Sunday as well to round out the series. Saturday's game starts at 6:05 p.m. and Sunday is a 5:05 p.m. game.

The Mallards will also be hosting their second annual garage sale at the Sports Impressions Team Green Store and in the Diamond Center Courtyard during all three games. The team will be selling team and stadium memorabilia featuring the original logo. The sale will begin as gates open for all three games and will end after the conclusion of each of the games.
