Mankato MoonDogs News Release
Mankato, Minn.- The Mankato MoonDogs dropped game one of a three game home series against the Duluth Huskies 4-2, on Friday night at Franklin Rogers Park. It was a pitchers duel on Friday night, with MoonDog starter Sam Selman (Vanderbilt) and Duluth starter Tyler King (Nebraska) on the hill. Despite a great performance, Selman was the losing pitcher, as he pitched six innings, spreading out four runs on three hits and striking out five Husky batters. King pitched six innings as well as gave up two runs on six hits and struck out six.
Duluth was the first team on the scored board, putting up one run in the second inning and another three runs in the top of the fifth to put the MoonDogs in a 4-0 hole. The MoonDogs did not help themselves much during the game as they had five errors on the night that allowed the Huskies to score and put runners in easy scoring position. The bats went silent after the fifth inning when only three hits between both teams were allowed the rest of the game by the pitching staffs. MoonDog James Roberts (USC) was the sole player to have three hits in the game. Roberts was 3-for-4 with a run scored on the evening.
The MoonDogs will face the Duluth Huskies in game two Saturday night at Franklin Rogers Park at 6:05. Saturday is the MoonDogs Throwback Jersey giveaway presented by Crystal Valley Co-op and 105.5 The River. The first 500 fans will receive a replica 2002 MoonDogs jersey.
