EVERETT, Wash. - After taking an early lead, the Everett AquaSox (59-47) fell to the Vancouver Canadians (50-56), 9-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The AquaSox scored their first run in the bottom of the first inning when Cade Marlowe crushed a line drive over the right-field fence. Vancouver's Orelvis Martinez answered in the top of the second with a game-tying solo homer.
Joseph Rosa launched the 'Sox ahead in the bottom of the second with a three-run home run, giving the Frogs a 4-1 lead. The Canadians bounced back, scoring two runs off an AquaSox throwing error and an RBI double in the top of the third.
Rafael Lantigua and Spencer Horwitz each hit solo home runs in the top of the fifth, putting Vancouver ahead by one run. In the bottom of the inning, Jose Caballero reclaimed the lead for the Frogs with a two-RBI double to left field. Vancouver struck again in the top of the seventh, tying the game with an RBI single from Horwitz. A fielding error and bases-loaded ground out drove in two more runs for the Canadians, giving them a two-run edge over the AquaSox.
Zac Cook tacked on another insurance run for Vancouver in the eighth with a home run to right-center field, extending their lead to 9-6. A bases-loaded walk in the ninth rounded out the scoring and the Frogs fell, 9-7.
