Frogs Drop Series Finale to Bombers

Green Bay, WI. - The visiting Battle Creek Bombers (12-15) used a six-run fifth inning to top the host Green Bay Bullfrogs (10-18) by a final score of 10-4 from Joannes Stadium Tuesday evening. The Bombers split the two-game set to even the season series up at 2-2.
Battle Creek jumped ahead early on a two-out RBI single in the top of the first inning to grab a 1-0 lead. The Bombers then followed with a two-run blast by Zach Gartner to extend the lead out to 3-0 in the fourth.
Green Bay answered in the next frame with a RBI triple by Adrian Damla (Sophomore, UC Irvine) and run-scoring single by Riley Mihalik (Junior, Rider Univ.) to cut the deficit down to 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth.
The Bombers responded immediately with a huge six-run frame in the fifth to stretch the advantage out to a commanding 9-2 margin. Trailing 10-3 in the seventh, a RBI double from Jake Munoz (Sophomore, Univ. of San Francisco) made it a 10-4 game. The Bullfrogs were held scoreless for the final two innings, securing the victory for Battle Creek.
Damla led the Green Bay offensive attack, finishing 2-for-5 with two RBIs and one run scored. Cooper Morrison (Sophomore, UC Davis) and Munoz went 2-for-4 with a double. Ethan Ibarra (Junior, St. Cloud State) was 1-for-4 with a team-high two runs scored.
Battle Creek starting pitcher Walter Talcott earned the win, improving to 3-2. Green Bay starter Jake Zatopek (Freshman, Incarnate Word) took the loss, falling to 0-3.
The Bullfrogs return to action tomorrow for a day-night doubleheader versus the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders. Both teams will play at Herr-Baker Field at 11:35 a.m. followed by a 7:05 p.m. first pitch from Joannes Stadium on the same day.
