Dock Spiders Take Down Growlers 7-4

FOND DU LAC, WI - A day after the Kalamazoo Growlers (19-8) saw their 11 game win streak snapped they would fall 7-4 to the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (16-10).
After a scoreless first inning the Growlers were able to grab two runs in the top of the 2nd to take a 2-0 lead. The lead would not last long as the Dock Spiders were able to match the Growlers two runs with two of their own. With two outs and base runners on first and second Mitch Boe (Iowa)was able to line one that split the 5/6 sending in two runs. With the base hit Boe extended his hit streak to 6 games.
Kalamazoo quickly regained the lead after scoring in the top of the third taking a 3-2 lead. Fond du Lac would enter the bottom of the 3rd inning and never look back. After two quick outs in the bottom of the frame the Spiders were able to rip out four straight hits and pick up 4 runs in the inning. Cole Zabowski (Ole Miss) and Jacob Adams (Ole Miss) would each pick up RBI singles in the frame. For Jack Wassel (Minnesota) and Braden Stutzman (Oregon) they were able to pick up RBI doubles.
Fond du Lac had a 6-3 lead over the Growlers after 3 innings of work.
Kalamazoo would cut away at the deficit with a solo shot over left field to lead things off in the 6th cutting the lead down to 2 for Fondy. Zabowski would get his 3rd hit off the night and pick up his second RBI when he sent homeAndrew Bullock (Western Carolina) for the 7th and last run of the game.
Situational hitting was huge for the Dock Spiders on this Monday night in Fond du Lac especially two out hitting. As a team with 2 outs they were 6/11.
Fond du Lac will host Kalamazoo again tomorrow night for a 6:35 PM first pitch.
