
Bullfrogs Blast Bombers in Dominant Shut-Out Victory

Green Bay, WI. - The host Green Bay Bullfrogs (10-17) used a season-high 18 hits to secure their first shut-out win of the season with a 14-0 thrashing of the visiting Battle Creek Bombers (11-15) from Joannes Stadium Monday evening. The Frogs now hold the 2-1 season series lead over the Bombers.
The Green Bay offensive fireworks began immediately with a 5-0 start in the first inning, starting with a RBI single from Blaise Maris (Sophomore, Florida Tech). A run-scoring single by Rudy Aguilar (Sophomore, St. Johns) and RBI double from Eddy Gonzalez (Junior, Incarnate Word) to make it a 3-0 lead. Two additional runs scored on a base-hit by Cooper Morrison (Sophomore, UC Davis) to complete the offensive surge.
The Bullfrogs were held scoreless in the second and third innings before a four-run fourth frame extended the lead out to 9-0. Jake Munoz (Sophomore, Univ. of San Francisco) began the inning with a RBI single followed by a two-run blast from Maris to stretch the advantage out to 8-0. A base-knock from Aguilar scored Adrian Damla (Sophomore, UC Irvine) to make it a nine-run ballgame.
Two more Green Bay runs came across in the fifth inning on a pair of RBI singles from Maris and Damla to push the lead out to a dominant 11-0 margin. Blake Nelson (Junior, Univ. of Michigan) joined the fun with a run-scoring single in the sixth inning to increase the advantage to 12-0. Finally, a two-run shot by Riley Mihalik (Junior, Rider Univ.) gave the Frogs a commanding 14-0 lead in the seventh inning.
Green Bay starting pitcher Leo Perez (Freshman, Texas A&M - Corpus Christi) earned the win, improving to 3-1. Perez tossed six scoreless inning with three hits allowed and a three strikeouts. Eli Baez (Sophomore, St. Bonaventure), Tyler Rosas (Junior, Dixie State) and Travis Kuhn (R-Freshman, San Diego) each tossed one inning of relief to contribute to the shut-out victory. Baez had one strikeout, while Kuhn tallied two punch-outs in the ninth to end the contest. Battle Creek starter Michael McCraith took the loss, falling to 2-2.
Both teams return to action tomorrow night to conclude the two-game series from Joannes Stadium. First pitch is slated for a 7:05 p.m. start from Titletown.
