FRISCO, TEXAS-Home runs by Anthony Aliotti, Ryan Lipkin, and Jeremy Barfield capped off a 10-2 win as Midland defeated Frisco Wednesday afternoon at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
The RockHounds jumped out early scoring three runs in the first. 'Riders starter Jake Brigham (3-3) opened the game by walking Conner Crumbliss. He moved to second on a ground out before scoring on a double by Anthony Aliotti. One batter later, Jeremy Barfield singled bringing in Aliotti. Michael Spina followed that up with a double to right, moving Barfield to third. With runners on the corners a wild pitch by Brigham scores Barfield and moved Spina to third. However, Brigham ended the inning by striking out Luke Hughes.
Solo home runs by Anthony Aliotti in the third and Ryan Lipkin in the fourth gave Midland a 5-0 lead. Frisco, looking to avoid their first shutout since April 20, put two runs on the board in the seventh. Jared Prince led off the inning with a double to left field. Midland reliever Jose Guzman then induced a fly out before striking out Leury Garcia. With two outs and a man on second, Jurickson Profar singled, plating Prince and putting the first RoughRiders' run on the board. Mike Olt followed that up with a double to center field bringing around Profar. After next walking Chris McGuiness, Guzman was replaced by Brett Hunter. A ground ball hit by Ryan Strausborger was handled by RockHounds' third baseman Leonardo Gil who stepped on third to retire the side.
Despite Frisco's rally, Midland slammed the door shut in the ninth by putting five runs on the board, including a three-run home run by Jeremy Barfield, to make the score 10-2.
