Tulsa, OK - The Tulsa Drillers used a four-run first inning to defeat the Northwest Arkansas Naturals on Wednesday afternoon 6-2. The win for the Drillers gives them a three-game lead in the Texas League's North Division.

It took just three batters for the Drillers to get on the board in he first inning against the Naturals' Noel Arguelles (2-6). Josh Rutledge led off the game with a single and then moved to third base on a single by Angelys Nina. He later scored the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly by Nolar Arenado. Corey Dickerson delivered a two-run triple, and Kent Matthes an RBI single to cap the Drillers four run frame.

The Naturals offense would battle back getting single runs in the second and third innings. Rey Navarro's sacrifice fly in the second inning scored Johnny Whittleman to put the Naturals on the board. Eric Duncan drove home his 19 run of the season, collecting an RBI ground out in the third inning that cut the deficit to 4-2.

Arguelles settled in after the first inning for the Naturals. The left-hander went five and a third innings allowing eight hits and five runs, while walking two and fanning three. His counter part Joe Gardner went four innings allowing six hits and two runs. Cory Riordan (3-1) earned his third win of the season, working three innings in relief and allowing just one hit.

The Drillers tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the sixth and seventh innings. The run in the sixth came on Ben Paulsen's fifth home run of the year, and the run in the seventh on a Tim Torres RBI single.

The Naturals will now travel to Springfield to begin a four-game series against the Cardinals tomorrow night at 7:08 PM. The Naturals will send Michael Mariot (2-2, 5.08) against the Cardinals right-hander Richard Castillo (4-0, 1,95). The game can be heard on ESPN 92.1 The Ticket.
