Frisco Scores 11 Runs for Series-Opening Win in Springdale

SPRINGDALE, Arkansas - The Frisco RoughRiders used early offense to dominate the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 11-6 from Arvest Ballpark on Tuesday night.

The RoughRiders (26-31) took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning when Thomas Saggese a blasted two-run shot, his eighth long ball of the year for the team lead.

Northwest Arkansas (21-37) struck back in the bottom of the first, scoring four times, but the Riders took the lead back in the top of the second when Chris Seise laced a two-run homer to center, his third of the year, and Aaron Zavala added an RBI single to make it 5-4 Riders.

After the Naturals knotted the game up at 5-5 on a Greyson Jenista solo home run in the third, Frisco exploded in the fourth. Trevor Hauver rammed a three-run double into centerfield, Dustin Harris crushed an RBI triple and Kellen Strahm chipped in with an RBI single to give Frisco a 10-5 advantage.

The two teams traded runs in the sixth and seventh, with the RoughRiders getting their run on a Scott Kapers RBI double, but Frisco won it 11-6.

Justin Slaten (1-1) earned the victory out of the bullpen for Frisco, throwing two innings, while Dante Biasi (2-3) was handed the Northwest Arkansas loss.

Seven RoughRiders players collected multiple hits with Strahm's three leading the way.

Frisco meets with the Naturals for game two of the six-game series in Springdale at 12:05 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14th. RHP Nick Krauth (1-3, 5.65) is scheduled to start for the Riders against RHP Ronald Medrano (0-1, 6.43).
