Frisco Fighters Re-Sign Quarterback TJ Edwards

FRISCO, TEXAS - The Frisco Fighters head coach, Andre Coles, announced the re-signing of Quarterback TJ Edwards.

Edwards attended Lakeview Centennial High School in Garland, Texas.

As for college, Edwards attended Southwestern Baptist University and University of Indianapolis where he was quite the standout. In his career at Southwestern Baptist, he threw for 8,276 yards and rushed for 1,444 with 100 total touchdowns. He was also named GLVC Freshman of the Year, GLVC Offensive Player of the Year, and All-GLVS First Team and earned the Harlon Hill Award after setting a school record of 44 total touchdowns. He then transferred to University Baptist for his senior year where he threw for 2,392 yards and 23 touchdowns. He also rushed for 407 yards and 7 touchdowns. In his senior season, he earned Offensive Back of the Year and All-GLVC Third Team.

After college, Edwards signed with the Arizona Rattlers in the Indoor Football where he played in three games scoring a rushing touchdown in one of those games. After a short career in Arizona he then signed with the Frisco Fighters. He played in 15 games backing up Blake Sims and threw for 1,371 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also rushed for 656 yards with 26 rushing touchdowns. He then earned his role as a starter and began his MVP season. Edwards threw for 2,600 yards, led the team in rushing with 910 yards with had combined 88 touchdowns. He was selected as as the Indoor Football League MVP, First Team All-IFL, and earned IFL Player of the week twice.
