Tucson Padres News Release

Fresno's Tyler Graham stole two bases in the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday, putting him at third base for Justin Christian's sacrifice fly that ended the Grizzlies 4-3 win over the Tucson Padres. The Padres scored the first two runs of the game, and later tied the game after falling behind, but fell to the Grizzlies for the first time in the series. The Padres are now 11-21 in one-run games this season.

The Padres committed two errors in the bottom of the third leading to a Fresno run. Tucson's Steve Tolleson made a throwing error allowing Christian reach base and he later scored on a fielding error by right fielder Aaron Cunningham. The Grizzles added two in the sixth inning when Brandon Belt hit his sixth home run of the season and Graham drove home a run on a groundout. Despite the late loss, Tucson's bullpen continued a strong series, with Greg Burke and Luis Perdomo pitching scoreless outings.

The Padres scored only twice against Fresno starter Andrew Kown, but had 10 hits against the All-Star, squandering multiple scoring opportunities. The Padres left 12 runners on base in the game. It was only the second loss for Tucson in its last 13 games.
