Oklahoma City Barons News Release

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Barons will return to action at home next weekend and they will do so on a fresh sheet of ice.

Beginning tomorrow morning, crews from the Cox Convention Center begin work on installing a new sheet of ice. The ice surface installed last September was removed for the gymnastics competitions surrounding the Bart & Nadia Health Festival from February 10 - 12.

The ice installation process begins Monday morning with temperature of the arena floor dropping to a temperature that will freeze a thin coat of water. Following the application of the water, crews from the Cox Convention Center will paint the thin coat of ice white and paint the markings on the ice like faceoff circles, goal crease, blue line and red line. Following the painting of the lines, the crew will install the logos and then continually add layers of water to bring the ice surface to its desired thickness.

Oklahoma City will play its first games on the new ice February 17 & 18 night against the Milwaukee Admirals. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center. February 19, the Barons wrap up a three-game weekend with a game with division rival San Antonio at 4 p.m.
