Frederick Keys News Release

In a rain-shortened contest, the Keys rallied from three deficits to defeat Potomac 8-4 in six innings before weather halted the contest.

Frederick trailed 1-0, 3-1 and 4-3 in the early innings before the Keys rallied.

In the fourth inning CF Matt Angle doubled to get the offense rolling. He would go to third base on a sacrifice bunt by SS Bobby Stevens and score on a groundout by 1B Robbie Widlansky to tie the game.

With two down, 3B Brandon Waring revitalized the rally, doubling down the left field line. He would score on a fly ball, lost in the lights by Potomac LF Dan Nelson off of the bat of LF Tyler Henson as the fortunate double gave the Keys the lead.

Frederick broke the game open just before the skies opened in the sixth inning.

Angle walked to leadoff the inning. He went to second base on a Stevens single up the middle. A double steal worked with the throw going into left field allowing Angle to score and Steven to take third. Widlansky then scored to score Stevens and the big inning was on.

The Keys plated three runs before the rains halted play for good with still nobody out in the frame.

Both Waring and Henson went 3-for-4 in the game. Frederick registered 14 hits in five-plus innings.

The Keys now head home after its winning trip to take on the Winston-Salem Dash at 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 14th. It will be NFL Night at Harry Grove Stadium with Baltimore Ravens Cheerleaders at the park and Fireworks following the game.
