Fraser and Mosienko help Wranglers zip past RoadRunners 5-1

Phoenix, AZ - The Las Vegas Wranglers (7-2-0, 14 points) defeated the Phoenix RoadRunners (5-7-0, 10 points) 5-1 at the U.S. Airways Center on Sunday night. Forwards Tyler Mosienko and Curtis Fraser each scored a goal and added an assist as the Wranglers outscored Phoenix 11-3 in the two-game set. Las Vegas goalie Tim Boron improved to 2-1-0 by stopping 37 Phoenix shots in the win. Defensemen Aaron Power and Gerry Burke forward Brandon Kaleniecki each scored in the victory. Las Vegas will play in Bakersfield on Wednesday at 10:30 am (PST).

Despite Phoenix outshooting Las Vegas 21-9 in the first period, the Wranglers took a 2-0 lead to the locker room after one period of play. Defenseman Gerry Burke tallied his first goal of the season just 2:34 into the contest. The Wranglers made it a 2-0 game as winger Brandon Kaleniecki scored a shorthanded goal just 2:26 later. Center Curtis Fraser and defenseman Jason Krischuk assisted on Kaleniecki's fourth goal of the season.

In the second period, Las Vegas added to the lead with a power-play goal by Curtis Fraser. Defenseman Sean Owens started the play by finding Tyler Mosienko in the high slot. Mosienko dropped a pass to the front of the Phoenix net for Fraser, who beat Phoenix goalie Cody Rudkowsky with a backhand shot for his first professional goal.

In the third period, center Tyler Mosienko tipped a Tyson Strachan shot past Rudkowsky for a 4-0 lead. The goal 7:17 was Mosienko's fourth of the season and marked the first professional point of Strachan's career. Defenseman Aaron Power scored a power-play goal at 9:28, pushing the Las Vegas lead to 5-0. Tyler Mosienko and Curtis Fraser assisted on the tally. Phoenix trimmed the lead back down to four as Justin Maiser scored his eighth goal of the season at 12:04.

The Wranglers continue on the team's five-game road trip before returning home to host the Phoenix RoadRunners on Tuesday, November 20th at 7:05 pm. Las Vegas heads to Bakersfield for three games with the Condors starting at 10:30 am on Wednesday morning at Rabobank Arena.
