Andrew Gordon got the Stingrays on the board first, beating Sea Wolves goaltender Morgan Cey with a wrist shot at 4:42 of the first period. The Sea Wolves would even the score when Lance Monych tipped a shot from Gio Flamminio past Stingrays goalie Josh Johnson at 14:18 of the first.

South Carolina retook the lead 25 seconds into the second period when Pierre-Luc O'Brien beat Cey low to the blocker side.
