Fox Rocks Gwinnett with 1 Hit Shutout

Righthander Matt Fox hurled the first complete game of the season for the PawSox on Sunday in Georgia. Fox was masterful, tossing a two hit shutout in a 5-0 victory. Fox (8--5) allowed just four base runners in nine innings. Jeff Fiorentino reached on an error in the third. In the fourth inning, Stefan Gartrell walked and Wilkin Castillo singled. Brandon Hicks singled in the ninth. Fox retired 15 of the final 16 hitters he faced. He fanned 7 Braves hitters.

Daniel Nava hit his third home run of the road trip, his sixth of the year in the second inning to give the PawSox a 1-0 lead. Moments later, Nate Spears drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. The Sox scored another pair in the fourth inning on a single by Che-Hsuan Lin and a sacrifice fly by Ryan Kalish. Kalish added the fifth run with yet another sacrifice in the sixth.

The PawSox (69-52) are 5-2 on the southern road trip with one game left to be played. The finale is slated for Monday night at 7:05 p.m. Brandon Duckworth (8-6, 3.94) faces Erik Cordier (4-8, 5.35).
