Clearwater Threshers News Release

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - The Clearwater Threshers set a season-high with seven runs scored in the fourth inning of Thursday night's 10-2 victory over the Charlotte Stone Crabs at Charlotte Sports Park. The win gave the Threshers the series victory, and wrapped up the 11-game road trip with an 8-3 mark.

With Clearwater (28-25) trailing 2-1 entering the frame, Jhailyn Ortiz reached on an error to start things out against Michael Plassmeyer (2-1), and advanced to second on Nick Maton's single to left. Rodolfo Duran tied the match with a single to left, pushing across Ortiz from second.

The line kept moving for the visitors, as Jake Scheiner singled to load the bases for Danny Meyer, who drew a walk to force home Maton for the 3-2 advantage. Matt Vierling followed with a sacrifice fly to the wall in right to plate Duran for the two-run cushion.

Alec Bohm was intentionally walked to load the bags for Madison Stokes, who went down swinging on three pitches, but Matt Kroon picked his teammate up by lining a two-run single into left center for the 6-2 lead.

Ortiz came up for his second plate appearance of the inning, and greeted Jhonleider Salinas with an infield single to third, scoring Bohm to extend the lead to five. Maton delivered an RBI single to right, scoring Kroon to cap off the inning with an 8-2 lead.

Julian Garcia (4-3) worked off the momentum and held Charlotte (27-26) off the board for his remaining two innings. The right-hander lasted five frames in his fourth win of the season, with the only blemish coming on a two-run home run by Moises Gomez in the second inning that put Clearwater behind by a run.

Austin Ross worked two scoreless frames in relief of Garcia, and Zach Warren shut down the home team through the final two stanzas.

The three hurlers for the Threshers finished the night with 15 strikeouts, lifting the Philadelphia Phillies affiliate's total to 517 on the season.

Ortiz started the scoring for the road warriors with a solo blast just to the left of the batter's eye to lead off the second inning. The slugging outfielder finished the night with three hits and three RBI.
