Brodey Collects 3 More Hits in 8-3 Loss to Jupiter

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - The Jupiter Hammerheads defeated the St. Lucie Mets 8-3 on Thursday at First Data Field to take the rubber game between the two teams.

Jupiter starting pitcher Edward Cabrera dazzled early, as he retired the first 10 batters he faced, including five in strikeouts. He ended up holding the Mets to two runs (one earned) over six innings to pick up his fourth win.

With the game still in the balance in the eighth inning, Demetrius Sims hit a three-run homer to give the Hammerheads a 7-2 lead. Sims went 2 for 3 with four RBI in his Jupiter debut.

The Mets were led by Quinn Brodey, who went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI. Brodey extended his hitting streak to eight games. He is 18 for 31 (.581) during the streak. He now leads the Florida State League with 35 RBI.

Mets starter Tony Dibrell fought some command issues but pitched well. He scattered six hits and gave up two runs (one earned) in five innings of work. Dibrell walked three and struck out six.

It was another tough night for the Mets bullpen, which gave up six runs in four innings.

Manny Rodriguez's nine game hitting streak came to an end with an 0 for 4 night.

The Mets (26-26) hit the road for three-game series at the Charlotte Stone Crabs starting Friday. First pitch from Charlotte Sports Park is set for 6:30 p.m.
