Fourth Inning Dooms Thunder in 8-2 Loss

READING, PA - Reading scored eight runs on ten hits off Thunder starter Nick Green and cruised to an 8-2 win over the Thunder on Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The Fightin Phils jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Jose Gomez tripled in two runs with a shot to right-center.

Kyle Holder knocked a solo homer with two outs in the third inning for his seventh home run of the season to cut the deficit in half. However, the Fightins would chase Green from the game in the fourth inning with a five-run frame to give them a commanding 8-1 lead. Raul Rivas brought a run in on a fielders choice and Luke Williams followed him with an RBI single. Mickey Moniak then stepped to the plate and tripled in two runs and Alec Bohm doubled in Moniak extend the lead.

Green suffered his third loss of the season with Thunder-highs eight runs allowed on ten hits over 3.2 IP. Seth McGarry earned the win with five innings for the Fightins, he allowed just the solo homer to Holder and struck out five.

Trevor Lane and Brooks Kriske followed Green with 4.1 scoreless innings of relief combining for seven strikeouts and scattering four hits.
