Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BELOIT - Ike Buxton gave the Beloit Sky Carp its third straight terrific start in their series with the Peoria Chiefs.
But a four-run sixth inning against the Beloit bullpen allowed the Chiefs to come away with a 5-0 victory Thursday night at ABC Supply Stadium.
Buxton, making his first home start, allowed just four hits and a pair of walks while striking out a pair in five scoreless frames.
The Sky Carp threatened in the fifth, putting runners on the corners with one out, but couldn't convert.
Peoria struck first, and often, in the sixth inning against Beloit reliever Chris Mokma. The Chiefs tallied four runs against Mokma before he exited the game with two outs in the inning. Peoria added a run in the eighth to cap the scoring.
The Sky Carp were held to just two hits in seven innings against Peoria starting pitcher Max Rajcic, who struck out four and walked a pair along the way to earn the win. For the game, the Sky Carp were out-hit 12-4.
The Sky Carp and Chiefs will continue their six-game series Friday night at 6:35. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a beer cooler, courtesy of our friends at G5 Brewing.
The Beloit Sky Carp are the High-A Affiliate of the Miami Marlins and play their games at ABC Supply Stadium -- the heart of the Riverbend District.
