
Four Run Innings Help Blue Rocks Force Rubber Game

WILMINGTON, DE - The Wilmington Blue Rocks put together two four-run innings en route to a 10-6 victory over the Frederick Keys on Saturday night from Frawley Stadium. Ryan McKenna finished 4-for-5 and came up a triple short of the cycle in the setback.
In the first, Wilmington (28-34) posted its first four-run inning against Cristian Alvarado. After the first two men reached, Khalil Lee hit a two-run triple to right. Gabriel Cancel followed with an RBI double, advanced to third on a groundout and scored on a sac-fly by Xavier Fernandez.
Frederick (25-33) got one run back, after a pair of Blue Rocks errors, a single and a groundout by Cole Billingsley plated Jomar Reyes. However Wilmington responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Hitting with the bases loaded, Cancel stroked a two-run single to make it 6-1. Cancel led the Blue Crew going 3-for-5 with three runs scored.
The Keys made it a one-run game in the fifth, sending 10 men to bat against Gerson Garabito and Carter Hope. Following a leadoff double by Daniel Fajardo, McKenna hit a two-run shot to left. Two batters later, Preston Palmeiro followed suit for his ninth of the year.
Wilmington gained separation in the bottom of the fifth, scoring four more times. A two-run homer by Kort Peterson made it 8-5, while a fielder's choice with the bases loaded an infield single by D.J. Burt put the Blue Rocks into double digits.
Wilson Garcia added an RBI single in the sixth, but the Keys could not manage any more the rest of the way. Alvarado (5-5) surrendered 10 runs (eight earned) on 13 hits in five innings in the loss. Hope (2-1) picked up the win for Wilmington delivering 4.1 innings of one-run baseball.
On Sunday, the Keys conclude their first half road slate against the Blue Rocks. Right-hander Ofelky Peralta (1-6, 6.64) starts for the Keys and will be opposed by right-hander Arnaldo Hernandez (6-3, 3.95). First pitch is at 1:35 p.m and the broadcast can be heard on frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn radio app.
The Keys return to Nymeo Field on Monday, June 11 when the Lynchburg Hillcats and Down East Wood Ducks come to town for the final first half homestand.
