REMILLARD LEADS DASH TO WIN

Zach Remillard drove in a career-high five runs, and the Dash bullpen combined to post four scoreless innings as Winston-Salem edged Carolina 7-4 on Friday night at Five County Stadium. Down 2-0 in the fourth inning, Remillard helped kick-start the Dash's comeback efforts against Mudcats starter Braden Webb. With two on and one out, Remillard stroked an RBI single to make it a 2-1 contest. Later in the frame, Yeyson Yrizarri tied up the game with an RBI double down the right-field line. After the Mudcats plated an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth against Tanner Banks to regain the lead, Winston-Salem seized the advantage in the fifth. Blake Rutherford re-tied the contest at three with an RBI single, and, two batters later, Remillard crushed Winston-Salem's first grand slam of the season to left-center to give the Dash a 7-3 lead. Banks ended up earning the win, while Mike Morrison, Zach Thompson and Matt Foster combined to shut out the Muddies the rest of the way.

PLAYOFF PICTURE

For the fourth consecutive day, the Dash are currently in first place in the Southern Division, up a half-game on the Buies Creek Astros, who Winston-Salem is 5-5 against this year. The Dash last clinched a first-half championship in 2012, when the team went 44-25-1. Winston has made the playoffs four times in the Dash era (2009-present).

THE ZACH ATTACK

With the end of the first half approaching, Remillard has stepped up his game in the month of June. The former Coastal Carolina star is 8-for-20 (.400) with three homers and seven RBIs in six games played. His six homers overall are tied for second on the team with Micker Adolfo, despite the fact he did not hit one in April.

INF Mitch Roman: 7-for-20, 3RBIs

SO MONEY THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW IT

Foster and Thompson have been two of the most dynamic relievers in the Carolina League, and each right-hander has shined as of late. Here's a look at each of their stat lines this year, along with some of their recent work:

Foster: 2-1, 2.52 ERA, 25.0IP, 6BB, 36K; last 12 appearances: 18IP, 1.00ERA, 30K

Thompson: 1-1, 2.01 ERA, 31.1IP, 33K, 19 appearances; hasn't given up a run over his last 10 innings pitched

61 GAMES IN, HERE'S WHERE WE STAND

Through 61 games this year, the Dash are sitting near the top of the Carolina League leaderboards. On offense, the Dash lead the circuit in doubles (111) and triples (18). Meanwhile, the ballclub is second in the circuit in batting average (.258), runs scored (293), slugging percentage (.403) and on-base percentage (.339). On the mound, the Dash have the second-best ERA (3.57) and third-most strikeouts (529). However, the Dash have struggled defensively, as the team is tied for the third-most errors (66) in the circuit.

NO-HIT STUFF

Right-hander Dylan Cease will make his second consecutive start against the Mudcats on Saturday. Last Sunday, the Dash right-hander allowed just one hit and one run in six innings of work en route to his seventh victory of the season. Overall, the 22-year-old righty is 2-1 with a 1.62 ERA in three starts against the Mudcats. Cease currently ranks second in the league in wins (seven) and strikeouts (69), while his ERA (2.81) ranks 10th-best in the circuit.

DASH DOTS

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans have won seven in a row to place themselves 2.5 games of Winston-Salem for first place...Adolfo's double in the fourth inning marked his first extra base hit since May 10...Priior the Remillard's grand slam, the last grand slam hit by a Dash batter was Matt Rose, who hit one against Carolina on August 24, 2017.
