Winston-Salem Dash News Release
ZEBULON, N.C. - Micker Adolfo, Yeyson Yrizarri and Zach Remillard each hit a home run on Saturday, and right-hander Dylan Cease logged six solid innings as Winston-Salem blew past Carolina 10-4 at Five County Stadium.
With runners on first and second and one out in the top of the first, Adolfo stepped to the plate against Mudcats starter Victor Diaz (2-4). On a 2-1 pitch, Adolfo blasted his seventh homer of the season over the left-field fence, a three-run shot to give the Dash (35-27) a 3-0 advantage.
Cease (8-2) held the Mudcats (29-32) hitless through the first 3.1 frames, but Tucker Neuhaus and Ronnie Gideon each hit solo bombs in the fourth to cut the deficit to one.
However, Winston-Salem responded by pulling away for good in the fifth. After loading the bases with nobody out, Adolfo bounced into a double play that brought home Joel Booker, who finished the night 3-for-5 with a double. Later in the frame, Alex Call came through with an RBI infield single to up the lead to three.
The Dash would strike again in the sixth via an RBI single from Blake Rutherford, who also had three hits in the contest.
Joantgel Segovia capped the scoring against Cease with another solo homer in the bottom of the sixth, but the Dash righty struck out two of the next three batters he faced to complete his night. Overall, Cease tossed six innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out nine. His 78 strikeouts now lead the Carolina League.
Meanwhile, the homer barrage at Five County Stadium continued in the eighth, as Yrizarri pegged the scoreboard in left-center for his third homer of the year. In the ninth, Remillard crushed his second home run in as many days, a three-run blast to give Winston-Salem a 10-4 lead. In the month of June, Remillard is 9-for-25 with four homers and 10 RBIs.
Danny Dopico relieved Cease in the seventh and picked up the save by registering three strong frames, allowing four hits and one unearned run while striking out three.
The #DashToThePostseason wraps up its first-half road slate on Sunday against the Mudcats at 2 p.m. Right-hander Luis Martinez (3-4, 4.64 ERA) will take the mound for the Dash against Mudcats left-hander Cam Roegner (6-3, 1.85 ERA).
