Wichita Wind Surge News Release
Corpus Christi, Texas - DaShawn Keirsey Jr's first home run of the season in the ninth inning delivers the Wichita Wind Surge a 7-6 come from behind victory. The Hooks and Surge split the six-game series.
The Surge's offense came to life in the first inning with four runs scored, including a three run Chris Williams home run.
Louie Varland kept the Hooks off the board for the first two innings. He finished the night with four hits and two runs in five innings pitched.
The Hooks offense roared in the bottom of the sixth. Justin Dirden hit a grand-slam home run to give Corpus Christi a 6-5 lead.
Michael Helman sent a solo-run blast past left center field to tie the ball game. Helman finished the night going one-for-three.
Evan Sisk pitched the final two innings and earned the win. He allowed no runs, no hits and struck out four in his third win of the season.
Notes: Wichita hit four home runs in the game, matching a season high. Chris Williams extended his hit streak to team best 12 games. The Surge promoted pitcher Austin Schulfer to Triple-A and activated Edouard Julien from the injured list.
Coming Up: The Wind Surge will head back to Riverfront Stadium to face Frisco on Tuesday evening (5/26). First pitch is set for 7:05 pm. The game will be carried by radio ESPN Wichita 92.3 and MiLB.com.
