Four-Game Winning Streak Snapped by RailRiders

(Allentown, Pa) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (4-2) four-game winning streak came to an end on Tuesday evening against the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Railriders (3-3). Gio Gonzalez (1-1) struck out 10 batters over six innings to guide the RailRiders to a 5-1 victory.

For the second consecutive night the RailRiders jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Thairo Estrada hit an RBI double off IronPigs starting pitcher JoJo Romero (0-1) to give the RailRiders a 1-0 lead. Ryan McBroom recorded an RBI on a groundout and Kyle Higashioka added an RBI single.

Romero settled in over the next couple of innings before giving up another run in the top of the fourth inning. Mike Ford hit an RBI single to score Zach Zehner and extend Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's lead to 4-0.

The RailRiders took a 5-0 lead off Tom Windle in the top of the sixth inning as Zehner scored on a fielding error by Malquin Canelo. The IronPigs lone run of the game came against Danny Coulombe in the bottom of the seventh inning. Deivy Grullon scored on a double-play groundball hit by Damek Tomscha.

Tyler Viza, Edgar Garcia and Josh Martin all pitched scoreless innings in relief.

The IronPigs and RailRiders will meet tomorrow night for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch at Coca-Cola Park. LHP Cole Irvin (0-0, 3.60) will get the start for the IronPigs.
