
Forward Derek DeBlois Returns to South Carolina

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that forward Derek DeBlois has returned to the team after being loaned to Lake Erie of the American Hockey League (AHL) on November 20.
DeBlois, 24, rejoins the Stingrays after his second stint with the Lake Erie. He has appeared in 10 games with the Monsters this season, scoring two goals. DeBlois has skated in nine games with the Stingrays this season, scoring six points (three goals, three assists).
DeBlois enjoyed a sensational rookie season with South Carolina last year. In 2014-2015, the 5-foot-11, 187-pound DeBlois posted 45 points (21 goals, 24 assists) in 59 games with the Stingrays. He led the club in goals and finished third in points. He was a key part of South Carolina's run to the 2015 Kelly Cup Finals, registering 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) in 27 playoff games. DeBlois, who played his NCAA Hockey at the University of Michigan, also appeared in four games for the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season, scoring one goal.
The Stingrays also announced today that they have released forward Louis Belisle. He appeared in six games with South Carolina during the club's road trip, registering no points and two penalty minutes.
South Carolina visits Atlanta on Friday at 7:35 p.m. to conclude a 10-game road trip. Fans are invited to catch the game at the Official Watch Party Destination of the Stingrays, King Street Grille-Northwoods. All road games air at King Street Grille-Northwoods and fans 21 and up may enjoy a special offer of $3 Drafts, including Bud Light, Michelob Ultra, Shocktop and Landshark during all Stingrays Watch Parties at King Street Grille.
The Stingrays return home to the North Charleston Coliseum for games on Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13. Saturday is Hockey Heroes for Epilepsy Night, featuring a post-game jersey auction and a Cool Ray Bobblehead giveaway as the Stingrays host Greenville at 7:05 p.m. Sunday is the annual Teddy Bear Toss at 3:05 p.m. versus Atlanta. The afternoon also is a Crews Subaru and Charleston County Parks Family Days game featuring $5 Kids Tickets and $5 Kids Meal, plus FREE parking. Santa will also be in attendance.
