Rimmer Recalled by Bakersfield, Blanchard Retires

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Norfolk Admirals, announce today that the club has recalled goaltender Ty Rimmer from the ECHL.

Rimmer, 23, posted his first shutout of the season on Saturday with a 3-0 victory for Norfolk over the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. The Edmonton native is now 6-10-1 in 18 appearances as an Admiral in 2015-16, and has a 3.06 goals-against average (GAA) and .916 save percentage (SV%). For his career, Rimmer is 14-21-4 in 43 ECHL games with a 3.14 GAA and .902 SV%. A 5-foot-11, 170-pound netminder, he is 1-1-1 through four career AHL contests, and owns a 3.05 GAA and .921 SV%.

In news from Norfolk, forward Nicolas Blanchard has retired. The 28-year-old out of Granby, QC turned pro in 2007 after three seasons with Chicoutimi in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The 6-foot-3, 205-pound attacker collected 64 goals and 80 assists for 144 points through 531 career AHL games with Albany, Charlotte, and St. John's. He made his NHL debut in the 2012-13 season, participating in nine games for the Carolina Hurricanes. Blanchard concludes his career by playing four ECHL games for the Admirals, posting three goals and an assist.
