
Fort Worth Completes Sweep of Diablos

El Paso, TX - Fort Worth completed their sweep of the Diablos winning 8-6 in ten innings at Cohen Stadium on Thursday night. The Cats are able to complete the four game sweep but also complete the season sweep of their season series in El Paso as Fort Worth goes 7-0 against El Paso this season at Cohen Stadium. El Paso in the process also drops their seventh straight game.
El Paso for the first time in the series took the lead first as they scored four runs in the second inning. Hector Bernal had the big hit as he brought in two on a single. Fort Worth came back with five straight runs to take the lead. They scored two in the third and added three more in the fifth. El Paso fought back to take the lead with two runs in the seventh. Benji Johnson had the RBI single with two outs to tie it and Mike Provencher brought in the go ahead run on an infield single. Fort Worth tied the game the very next inning on a Brian Fryer RBI single. The Cats would score the winning runs in the tenth inning, as John Allen came up big. Allen had only one hit on the night but it was the RBI single that gave the lead to the Cats. Allen ended the series with 11 RBI in the four games.
Shaun Ellis worked two outs into the sixth inning before being taken out. He allowed a lot of base runners as he gave up five runs on nine hits and five walks. Jason Fernandez pitched well but earned a no decision. He pitched into the seventh inning and ended up allowing five runs but only three were earned on eight hits. The game belonged to the bull pens as Fort Worth's Dustin Cameron (3-2) pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the win and David Whigham (0-6) was the pitcher of record for El Paso.
El Paso was led on offense by Mike Provencher for the second straight night. Provencher went 3-4 with an RBI and a double. Bryon Smith broke out of a hitting slump going 2-4 while Benji Johnson and Hector Bernal both went 2-5 with two RBI.
