Wingnuts' Owner Wins Debut with Redbirds

WICHITA, KS- Wichita Wingnuts owner Nate Robertson earned the win in his debut with the St. Louis Cardinals' organization on Thursday night.

A part-owner of the Wingnuts since their inception in late 2007, Robertson signed with St. Louis earlier this week after opening the season with the Florida Marlins. The 32-year old lefty went six innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out two at Las Vegas.

Robertson was traded from Detroit to Florida late in spring training and went 6-8 during 18 starts and one relief appearance for the Marlins this season. The former Shocker is 57-77 in his nine-year Major League career with a 5.47 ERA and 773 strikeouts in 1,151.1 innings. Robertson helped the Tigers win the American League pennant in 2006, going 13-13 with a 3.84 ERA. The native Wichitan started one game in all three rounds of the playoffs that year, including five innings of shutout ball to earn the win in Game One of the American League Championship Series at Oakland.
