The 36-year old veteran has collected 2,228 hits during his 20-year professional career which began in 1991 when he was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 17th round. Gonzalez played for the Wichita Wranglers from 1995-1998.
Jung has been an American Association All-Star each of the past two seasons and is currently 5-7 during 13 starts with a 4.44 ERA in 2010. The Seoul, South Korea native pitched a complete game three-hit shutout over the Wingnuts on June 13th at Lewis and Clark Park. The 28-year old finished second in the league with a 2.59 ERA in 2009 while pitching for the Fort Worth Cats.
In exchange for Jung, the Wingnuts sent first baseman/left fielder Steve Pearson to Sioux City. Pearson leaves the Wingnuts as their all-time leader in games played (253) and hits (259) while batting .291 with 11 home runs and 120 RBI.
The Wingnuts open a three-game series tonight at Sioux City. Sean Teague opposed right-hander Ty Marotz.
