Guelph Storm News Release
After 7 years of professional seasons former Storm defenceman and captain Matt Finn has announced his retirement.
The 27-year-old played four seasons and 228 games with the Storm. Scoring 38 goals, Finn recorded 161 points in the Royal City. His 123 assists place him third in overall franchise defensive scoring.
Named captain to start the 2012-13 season, Finn was part of arguably the best Storm team in history. Led by the then 19-year-old, the 2013-14 Storm squad finished the season with the best regular season record in franchise history. Defeating the likes of the Plymouth Whalers, Erie Otters, London Knights and North Bay Battalion in the 2014 OHL playoffs, Finn and the 2013-14 team would bring the city it's third OHL Championship.
Upon graduating the Storm in 2013-14, Finn split his time between the AHL and ECHL until the 2019-20 season when he made the jump to Austria. After two seasons in Europe, he announced his retirement on October 27th.
The Storm would like to congratulate Matt on an outstanding career and wish him all the best in his retirement.
