Brampton Steelheads News Release
The Steelheads are looking to get back on track this weekend with two contests against the Barrie Colts (October 29) and the Hamilton Bulldogs (October 30).
A Milestone Week
Despite the 1-2 record last weekend, the Steelheads had many memorable firsts. In the home-opening win over the Ottawa 67's (October 22), rookie forward Ty Anselmini notched his first career OHL goal and James Hardie scored his first career hat trick in the OHL. In addition, overage netminder Roman Basran registered his first OHL win, flashing the glove to make a highlight-reel save and stopping 20 of the shots he faced.
The following night against the Niagara IceDogs, rookie forward Luke Misa scored his first career OHL goal. Dylan Gordon registered his first career OHL point on the Misa goal.
During the Sunday matinee tilt against the Hamilton Bulldogs, Zander Veccia notched his first career OHL point with a highlight-reel assist on the Owen Beck goal in the first period. In the third period, team captain Ethan Del Mastro notched his first career OHL goal.
Return of the Colts
The blue and white look to avenge their heartbreaking loss to the Colts from 13 days ago, this time on home ice. The last game played against the Colts saw the Steelheads dominate the play by outshooting Barrie 33-19. This time, the Steelheads hope to change the final outcome of the game while continuing to outshoot their opponent.
Barrie is off to a tough start in the regular season, sitting at eighth position in the Eastern Conference with a 2-4-1 record. Colts forward Oskar Olausson leads the team in goals with seven (third in the league) and ten points in seven contests.
Onto the Steel City
Steelheads travel down the 403 for a Saturday night clash with the Hamilton Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs took the first game of the eight-game season series on October 24, beating the Steelheads 4-2. The Steelheads did not make it easy for the Bulldogs, however, as netminder Marco Constantini had to make 43 saves to secure the win. Forward Jan Mysak (3G, 4A) snapped his four-game goalless drought with his goal in the second period.
