Oregon State fans will recognize a familiar face on the mound on Sunday, August 2 when former Oregon State standout Andrew Moore takes the mound for the Everett AquaSox at Volcanoes Stadium.
Moore won't make the start but he's scheduled to come on in relief at some point as the Volcanoes and AquaSox conclude a five-game series.
The Seattle Mariners selected Moore, a right-handed pitcher, in the second round (No. 72 overall) in the 2015 Draft. He's made eight appearances so far this season with the AquaSox, the Mariners Short Season Class-A affiliate, posting a 1-1 record with a 2.14 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 21 innings pitched.
Moore was outstanding during his three-year tenure with the Beavers, compiling a career record of 27-9 with a 2.10 ERA. He twice earned All-America and All-Pac-12 honors and was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in 2013. He was especially effective in his final season in Corvallis, going 7-2 with a 1.91 ERA.
Sunday will also mark another Senior Sunday at Volcanoes Stadium presented by Kaiser Permanente, where seniors can purchase select concession items for only $1. There will also be a Youth Baseball Clinic on the field with Volcanoes players before the game. The clinic will take place from 3-4 p.m. and is free to all kids with a ticket to Sunday's game. Kids are also invited to run the bases after the game presented by McDonalds of Salem-Keizer.
First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. For more information on how to purchase tickets, please visit volcanoesbaseball.com or call (503)-390-2225.
