Former Intimidators 2B Sanchez to play in Sunday's Futures Game

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (July 7, 2012) - Former Kannapolis Intimidators second baseman Carlos Sanchez will take the field in the 2012 All-Star Futures Game at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City on Sunday. Sanchez, the lone Chicago White Sox prospect participating in this year's Futures Game, is a member of the 2012 World Team that will face the US Team in tomorrow's showcase.

Sanchez has spent this season as a member of the Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem Dash and currently ranks fourth in the Carolina League with a .320 average (103-322) with a home run and 39 RBI. He leads the league in hits, is tied for the most at-bats in the league, and is tied for fourth-most games played (82),

As a member of the Kannapolis Intimidators in 2011, Sanchez appeared in 63 games after being promoted from Advanced Rookie Bristol in late June. The Venezuelan middle infielder hit .288 (76-264) with a home run and 27 RBI for Kannapolis. Defensively last season, his .980 fielding percentage last season was just .002 behind the South Atlantic League leader at second base.
