Former Infielder Saladino Promoted to White Sox

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (July 10, 2015) - The Chicago White Sox have announced that infielder Tyler Saladino has been promoted to the Major Leagues for the first time in his career. Saladino will join the club for Friday's series opener at Wrigley Field against the Chicago Cubs.
Saladino becomes the 29th former Winston-Salem player to reach the Major Leagues since the franchise became the Dash in 2009. All but one of these former Dash stars have earned their first big league promotion while with the White Sox organization.
Four Winston-Salem alumni have earned their first big league promotion this season. Micah Johnson cracked the Opening Day roster for his first big league experience. Southpaw Carlos Rodon, the former top prospect in the system, joined the White Sox in late April. Right-hander Chris Beck has also logged his first two trips to The Show here in 2015.
A seventh-round pick in 2010, Saladino played with the Dash throughout the 2011 Minor League season. He hit .270 with 16 homers and 55 RBIs in 102 games in the Carolina League. That year, the San Diego native spent part of his offseason in the prestigious Arizona Fall League.
From there, Saladino spent most of 2012 and 2013 in Double-A Birmingham. Since the start of the 2014 season, he has been in Triple-A Charlotte, with whom he has hit .282 with 13 homers and 78 RBIs.
The Dash open up a four-game series on Friday at 7 p.m. against the reigning Mills Cup champion P-Nats. Fans will enjoy fireworks shows after the first two games of this series.
