Big League Right-Hander Nate Jones to Rehab with Dash

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (July 10, 2015) - The Chicago White Sox have announced that right-hander Nate Jones, who has pitched in the Major Leagues in parts of three seasons, has been assigned to Winston-Salem to begin an injury rehabilitation assignment.
Jones underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow on July 29, 2014. Because of this procedure, Jones has not pitched in a professional game since April 3, 2014.
During his two seasons with Winston-Salem, Jones was 13-7 with a 3.96 earned run average over 62 appearances, 28 of which were starts. The White Sox fifth-round pick in 2007, Jones earned a promotion to Double-A Birmingham for 2011 before jumping straight to the big leagues in 2012.
In his Major League career, Jones is 12-5 with a 3.55 earned run average in 137 relief efforts. He has logged more strikeouts (154) than innings pitched (149.2) during his three seasons, all with the White Sox.
This marks the second rehab appearance during the Dash era (2009-present). Infielder Brent Morel played in seven games with Winston-Salem in July of 2012.
The White Sox also announced Friday that catcher Sean O'Connell has been activated from the seven-day disabled list and infielder Ethan Wilson has been promoted to Triple-A Charlotte for the first time. The Dash's roster stands at the Carolina League maximum of 25 players, plus one MLB rehabber (Jones) and one on the disabled list (LHP Jace Fry).
Jones and the Dash open up a four-game series on Friday at 7 p.m. against the reigning Mills Cup champion P-Nats. Fans will enjoy fireworks shows after the first two games of this series.
