Former Cyclone Garrett Wilson Debuts in NHL

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Former Cincinnati Cyclones forward Garrett Wilson became the 13th Cyclones alumnus to make his NHL debut when he played for the Florida Panthers last night.

Wilson, Florida's fourth-round draft choice in 2009, played two seasons in Cincinnati (2011-12, 2012-13) and amassed 64 points (36g, 28a) over a 101 game span. He also contributed with five points (4g, 1a) in 15 Kelly Cup Playoff tilts last spring. His NHL debut, which came just two days after his 23rd birthday, involved 8:07 of ice time - including one shift on the power play. The Panthers ultimately won the contest 3-2 over San Jose.

Wilson becomes the 13th former Cyclones player to skate in an NHL game, and the first this season. Magnus Hellberg (2012-13), Kevin Henderson (2011-12), Cory Conacher (2010-11), Brian Foster (2010-13), Ryan Russell (2007-08), Frederic St. Denis (2009-09), Chris Mueller (2009-10), Greg Stewart (2006-07), David Desharnais (2007-08), J.T. Wyman (2008-09), Mark Dekanich (2009-10) and Cedrick Desjardins (2006-08) are the other 12.
