BOWIE, M.D. - The Altoona Curve were able to earn a split of a double-header on Sunday night at Prince George's Stadium against the Bowie Baysox. After falling in the first contest, 8-3, the Curve stormed back thanks to late-game heroics from Shelby Ford, to grab a 10 inning victory, 6-5.

The first game of the make-shift double-header was completed after it was suspended on Saturday night.

Josh Shortslef (1-1), who started the game on Saturday took the loss after he allowed four runs on six hits in just 2 1/3 innings.

Jeff Sues allowed three runs on four hits over two innings of work.

Jonel Pacheco smashed his ninth home run of the year, en route to going 2-for2, while Jason Bowers also enjoyed a two-hit game.

In the night-cap, with the Curve leading 5-4, Bowie (46-36) was able to draw even in the bottom of the seventh inning by way of a RBI single from Nolan Reimold to knot the score, 5-5.

In the top of the 10th, Ford hit a solo home run off Felix Romero (3-2) to give the Curve a 6-5 lead. The homer was Ford's second of the year, and the second on the Curve road trip. The long ball also extended his hitting streak to seven games.

Kyle Bloom started for Altoona (35-45) and tossed 4 2/3 innings of two-hit baseball. The southpaw allowed two runs and also struck out a pair.

Ronald Belisario (3-1) tossed 3 1/3 innings and allowed the run for Bowie to initially tie the contest. It was the only run Belisario allowed, as the righty scattered two hits.

Chris Castorri, recently promoted from Lynchburg (A) tossed a perfect inning of relief in the bottom of the 10th to notch his first Double-A save.

Altoona will look to get back on the winning track on Monday when they open at four-game series against the Binghamton Mets. The Curve will give the ball to right-hander Luis Munoz (1-1, 7.04) while Binghamton counters with righty Bobby Parnell (7-4, 4.14). Parnell is not related to Curve G.M. Todd Parnell.

The Curve return home to Blair County Ballpark on Monday to open an eight-game homestand. Altoona will be home through the Fourth of July Holiday and great seats for the entire homestand still remain. Monday the first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive a Curve Beach Towel, courtesy of the Central PA Convention and Visitors Bureau.
