
Force Set For Western Conference Showdown

CLEVELAND, OHIO -- The Cleveland Force will play two Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) games this weekend when the team hosts the Western Division Monterrey Fury and the San Diego Sockers. The Force and Fury will face off on Friday, February 6 at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University. Cleveland and the Sockers will battle on Sunday, February 8 at the Convo.
The Force comes into the match up with a record of 6-14 overall, 3-3 versus Central Division opponents and 3-7 at the Convo. Cleveland dropped a game to the St. Louis Steamers and the Philadelphia KiXX by final scores of 6-5 and 7-3 respectively. The Force currently is in third place in the Eastern Division 6.5 games behind the Philadelphia KiXX for second and 9.5 games behind the Baltimore Blast for first.
Monterrey enters the game with a record of 5-16 overall, and 3-5 versus Eastern Division opponents. The Fury dropped two games last week to the KiXX and Milwaukee Wave by final scores of 5-4 and 9-6. Monterrey currently sits in third place in the Western Division 5.0 games behind the Sockers for second and 8.0 games behind the Dallas Sidekicks for first.
San Diego comes into the week with a record of 10-11, 1-5 versus Eastern Division opponents and 2-6 on the road. The Sockers will travel to St. Charles, Missouri to take on the St. Louis Steamers on Saturday afternoon before heading to Cleveland. San Diego fell to Sidekicks by a final score of 7-3 last Saturday.
Cleveland is lead by forward Hector Marinaro with 22 points. Marinaro has notched 14 goals and added eight assists. Forward Zoran Karic is second on the team with 21 points as he has tallied five goals and added 16 assists.
Monterrey is led by the defending MISL Defender of the Year Genoni Martinez with 44 points. Martinez has tallied 24 goals and added 20 assists as well as 43 blocks.
San Diego is led by forward Paul Wright with a total of 27 points. Wright has netted 11 goals and added 16 assists.
