
Force Players Earn All-League Recognition

CLEVELAND, OHIO- The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today the players comprising the first and second All-MISL teams for the 2004-05 regular season. Cleveland Force forward and team captain John Ball and defender Genoni Martinez were each selected to the first-team by a panel of media and team personnel, in balloting that concluded on Monday evening.

Ball earns his second career All-League recognition after being tabbed during the 2000-01 season. John, who was selected as the Force and Continental Airlines Offensive Player of the Year, led the team and finished second in the MISL in scoring with 61 points. He tallied a team-high 30 goals and a career-high 31 assists. In addition, Ball saw action at every position this season while notching 38 blocks and four hat tricks on the season. John was selected MILS Offensive Player of the Week on two occasions as well as the MISL Offensive Player of the Month for March. The 10-year veteran of the franchise appeared on 94 percent of the ballots for either the first- or second-team.
Martinez, the two-time defending MISL defender of the Year, takes home his second straight first-team selection and fifth overall All-League recognition. Genoni began the season with Monterrey and joined Cleveland in mid February and was major factor in the team's turnaround as the club went 15-5 in his 20 game. He recorded 14 goals and 20 assists for 34 points while tallying 34 blocks with the Force. Martinez was selected as the Force and Wolstein Family Most Valuable Player sponsored by Pepsi as well as MISL Defensive Player of the Week on two occasions and the MISL Defensive Player of the Month for March and April.
The Force will host the KiXX on Sunday, May 1st at the Wolstein Convocation Center in game two of the two game series with kickoff slated for 5:05 p.m. The series will kickoff on Friday, April 29 when Philadelphia and Cleveland will face off at a neutral site in the first game of a MISL Semifinal Series doubleheader at the Savvis Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The KiXX and Force will meet in the first game scheduled for 6:00 p.m. followed by the number one seed Milwaukee Wave taking on the number four seed St. Louis Steamers at 9:00 p.m. All games are listed in Eastern Standard Time.
