
Force Kicks Past Philadelphia For 1-0 Series Lead, 6-3

ST. LOUIS, MO. â The Cleveland Force used a six goal second half performance to take game one of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Semifinal Series by defeating the Philadelphia KIXX by a final score of 6-3 at the Savvis Center.
With the victory, the Force took a 1-0 lead in the best of two series and improved to 13-0 when holding their opponents to four or less goals. With the loss, the KiXX will need to win game two as well as the golden goal overtime session in order to advance to the MISL Championship.
Philadelphia opened the scoring (0-1) when midfielder Damien Pottinger hit a ball that bounced off Cleveland defender Genoni Martinez into the net for the score at 11:11 of the first quarter.
The KiXX added to their lead (0-2) when defender Drew Kopp took the pass from forward Shawn Boney and nailed the shot to the far post at 6:17 of the second quarter. Philadelphia kept the scoring attack going (0-3) when forward John Barry Nusum buried a shot into the upper ninety off the cross from defender Pat Morris at 7:29.
The Force cut into the lead and snapped a 3-0 run by the KiXX (1-3) when forward and Mentor graduate Allen Eller took the rebound shot off the boards and then hit a shot that bounced off Philadelphia goalkeeper Peter Pappas back to him and chipped the ball over him and in for the score at 7:34 of the third quarter. Cleveland cut the lead to one (2-3) when forward Aaron Susi knocked home the score after taking the pass off the boards from forward and team captain John Ball at 11:20.
The Force tied the game (3-3) when forward Adauto Neto took the long outlet from goalkeeper Jim Larkin and made a move around two KiXX defender and Pappas for the tying goal at 3:04 of the fourth quarter. Cleveland took its first lead of the game (4-3) when midfielder Kyt Selaidopoulos hit a shot that bounced into the far corner off the cross from Neto at 8:27. The Force took their largest lead of the game (5-3) when forward Chris Handsor knocked a shot to the far post and bounced in off the feed from Eller at 9:58. Cleveland kept the scoring attack going (6-3) when forward Antonio Sutton stole the ball and tapped in the shot at 12:12.
Cleveland and Philadelphia will decide the two game series on Sunday, May 1 when the two teams will square off at the Wolstein Convocation. The game can be heard live on WHK 1420 AM in Cleveland and 1440 AM in Warren/Youngstown or worldwide on the Internet at TheSportsking.com. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:05 p.m.
