Fargo, N.D. - The Force topped the Stars, 2-0, in a tightly contested game on Saturday night in Scheels Arena.
Cole Gallant opened the scoring for the Force at 11:31 of the first. Denis Smirnov earned the primary assist as Fargo took a 1-0 lead into the locker room.
The Stars outshot the Stars 8-7 in the first period.
Neither team scored in the second, leaving it 1-0 after 40 minutes.
The teams traded chances in the third, but the Stars were unable to score with a power play in the final minute, allowing Fargo to ice the game with Smirnov's empty netter.
Fargo outshot Lincoln 26-24. Stars goalie Peyton Jones finished with 24 saves.
