Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

After scoring 11 runs last night, the Winnipeg Goldeyes offence was muzzled Saturday night by the Schaumburg Flyers.

The Flyers used three sacrifice flies to beat the Goldeyes 4-2 before 5,196 spectators at Canwest Park.

Schaumburg scored singles in each of the first two innings and added two more in the fifth inning.

The Goldeyes made it interesting in the bottom of the ninth inning. Justin Justice came into the game as a pinch hitter with runners on second and third base. After narrowly driving a ball foul down the first baseline that would have tied the game, Justice popped out to first base to end the contest.

Luis Alen and Brett Wallace both had two-hit nights to lead the Fish.

Goldeyes starter Stephen Flake went four and two-thirds innings, giving up all four runs. He struck out two and walked five.

Dustin Glant went the distance for Schaumburg to get the win. He scattered eight hits, while just allowing two runs.
